Object Stories

Contact Lens StoryTask: ‘Object Stories’ is a Pixar-inspired, anthropomorphic, time-based storytelling project. Students discover the Pixar story-telling structure, explore their own lives and experiences for inanimate objects with unique viewpoints and develop individual narratives that unfold over a set duration on a social media platform.

  • Learning Objective: Design, write and implement a character-based and time-based narrative in a social media environment.
  • Digital Literacy: Utilise character-limited social networking platform. Understand how different writing platforms affect meaning.
  • Evidence of student learning: All of the students were engaged and inspired by the concept of telling a story from the viewpoint of an inanimate object on a social networking platform. Half the class scheduled additional meetings with Charlotte in order to go through all their ideas and map the best strategy. One student produced a story so imaginative and original she was encouraged to send it out for short story competitions.
