Academic Writing Month
Academic Writing Month (2011) is an annual academic write-a-thon (often likened to a MOOC) that provides public instruction on academic writing techniques to a global audience via the PhD2Published community. Called ‘AcWriMo for short, the project accepts more than 1000 participants annually from over 15 different countries. They produce 100s of academic journal articles, 1000s of blog posts on academic writing techniques, and countless tweets containing tips and tricks on academic writing are shared across a community in excess of 300,000. The model has been adopted by institutions including La Trobe University and the University of Sheffield.
